A huge part of my realization of my sexuality was seeing a same-sex, female couple on a tv show. Watching the relationship's dynamics and interactions helped me to realize that was something I wanted. It was a huge turning point for me. Unfortunately, that representation on the screen isn't always positive and honestly isn't always present. There are still great improvements needed to be made in the realm of LGBTQIA+ representation on the screen. On top of that, I'm really discouraged by the Christian representation on the screen. Many of the Christian characters, at least in the programs I've watched, have been homophobic, judgmental, racist, super conservative, etc. There might also be a character struggling with their sexuality because of their faith or because of the faith of their family, and, while this is a very valid and ever-present struggle, I think it would be really cool to see some 1) LGBTQIA+ Christians on the screen as well as 2) more positive representation for both the LGBTQIA+ and Christian communities in general. Do you have any show recommendations or any personal experiences with LGBTQIA+/Christian representation on the screen?
